Ideal Hotel Restoration
The Ideal Hotel Restoration Project was a community initiative started in 2007. We renovated a San Diego cultural treasure and turned it into a multicultural peace practice center. The building was on the brink of condemnation and major work was necessary to save it. Hundreds of volunteers painted, scraped, cleaned, built, sanded, contributed funds, cooked, and so much more. Together we raised over $250,000 dollars and put in over 40,000 hours of volunteer labor.
The Ideal Hotel reopened in June, 2008, and was the home of Red Lotus Society until 2011.
